The 10 principles relating to a Bridgewithme agreement.
Support, honour and respect. Both parties should treat each other with respect and seize opportunities to support each other.
Duty to improve the relationship. Both parties should promote a loving and caring relationship. Continuous improvement of the relationship should be a high propriety team goal. However, the relationship shouldn’t be all consuming and should be balanced against other commitments such as commitments to friends, family, work and the community.
Non-exploitative. The Agreement should be not be exploitative.
Double jeopardy. You cannot be continuously punished for a violation of any part of the Agreement.
Trust. The principle of fairness, lawfulness, honesty and transparency will apply. Take the time to build trust.
Communication. Communication should be regular, and is an opportunity to connect. Communication is not criticism, contempt, stonewalling or defensiveness.
Conduct. Don’t hurt each other, heal each other.
Outside influence. Act and communicate as a team. Although some external influence is normal it should not be excessive.
Conflict resolution. Resolve conflicts sensibly.
Separate the past from the present. Don’t let the past determine your future.
